"I must add that human bone seems to deteriorate really fast when it regularly comes in contact with the oils in human skin - it's a ph reaction, so I wish you luck in sealing the bone well and when you do sort it out, hit me up." by Rasputin Sane
"I know I'm a bit late on this but I took a break from the industry for a long time so I missed this last year. At any rate, it's nothing new for me since human bone is available at jewelry expos (not the body mod kind of jewelry but the kind goldsmiths attend) and a goldsmith I knew brought some finger and hand boned back and I managed to score a crucifix of human bone in 2002 of one of his associates that they decided to make. I, oddly enough, don't have a position for or against making plugs out of human remains - my only position is that humans take up too much space when they die and if they don't get cremated then they should be put to some use." by Rasputin Sane

freakychildinteresting idea, and pretty cool that jimmy will be doing it (presumably through the Diablo organics brand)
i worry though about the legalities issues... especially for people outside the US, who's nationalities may prohibit ownership of human remains....
i'm not completely clear on all state laws, but i believe there are states in the US that prohibit or marginalize the private ownership of human remains...
such as Georgia's code "ยง 31-21-41. Traffic in human bodies"
there is a gray area, in that the code speaks of buying or selling, or otherwise trafficking in human bodies/remains over state lines...
just a thought

AdamIn the US it's completely legal to sell human bones. As you mentioned, there are exceptions. They are Georgia and Tennessee. So if you're in either of those two states, sorry, but you're outta luck. Unless you have it shipped to a different state.

freakychildfuckin hell, i hate my state....
and, damn, i can only imagine how expensive those pieces may end up being...
hanging open ring styles made from the oribal ring structure... or a flat plate carved hanger from a parietal bone, like the carved oval styles already for sale on Diablo organics made from mammoth...
lip plug made from a mandible.... seems fitting, right?

SimoneActually, I don't agree with that. Utilizing human bones to have shiny new jewels and getting a profit on it is so disrespectful.
If u ask me, I don't agree with the use of bones and horns taken from killed animals too, anyway human bones are way too much.
I agree with the utilization of human tissues for the purpose of research (if this gives any hope of living human health improvement), but just to make you look cool, no.
Market is market, right? If they sell, why not! A lot of rich "alternative" americans will be buying them and thinking that it's so fucking cool! They belonged to a human being and maybe they deserve a little bit more of respect, even if they probably were sold by some poor indian guy who asked wanted to get some bucks to feed his family even after he died. It could even become a new social business. Buy poor people's bones so that their families can survive.

Jimmy BuddhaWill this cause a stir? Of course....what doesn't? Is this ethical? For thousands of years we have been using human bone/remains for ancestor worship, black magic, love, hate.....and yes adornment. The human skull in many ancient cultures represented life. Of course in our christian centric world of the politically correct modern west it is all death, evil, and bad mojo. So I guess it all depends on how you look at it.

SimoneJimmy, I respect your work, I'm no christian and I'm really into tribal culture. The real issue for me is: there is no ritual here, or any emotivity linked to this thing. It's just something you buy. I mean: wearing bones belonged to dead friends, relatives, enemies, had for ages its own meanings and, why not, can have a deep meaning even now.
Referring to the utilization of human bones for adornment, I think that all the populations who carved jewels out of them did it for a purpose that is far more than look.
But, as you correctly wrote, it's a matter of points of wiew.
I just wanted to write mine, nothing personal, really :)

Richard HamiltonIn my opinion you have no right to an opinion unless you respect the opinions of others. That being said... I can't wait to see these and Diablo organics is absolutely the best. Jimmy designs are intricate, interesting, and most importantly are comfortable to wear. I may not ever actually wear human bone but i will definately offer it in my studio.

Jimmy BuddhaHey there Simone, I can agree with you about the frivolous nature of our consumer society as a whole, because of this I think people in modern western society have a need to create their own ritual. So to assume that their is no ritual or emotion because it is not connected to a larger belief system is abit unfair.
As far as your statement: "I think that all the populations who carved jewels out of them did it for a purpose that is far more than look." I would counter that the "Look" and "Purpose" are one and the same. I create my "Look" to define me, my "Purpose".
Besides these bones are collecting dust in drawers around the world...lets oil 'em up and stick 'em in a hole!

Jurcis:) it is cool, than now human remains are useful and i think it is respectful to dead guy, that someone wears part of someone else :)
and it should be a big thing to animal right activists, because it is 100% animal friendly material, i can see demonstrations - don't kill elephants for bone, take human bone :)
i don't think i would wear it - i don't like idea of wearing someone i don't know or know, what ever - i don't think i like would other persons(dead or alive) body parts in my body, but as you said in video that there is a lot of metal heads and gothic kids who would cry for jewelery like that

AndiBuck89I am very interested in this. It will definately cause a stir, it will be interesting to see how much of one and also how it will take off. I would consider wearing human bone, one thing that does worry me though, and please enlighten me, how is bone ever clean and sterile? Probably a realy stupid question but I hope I'm not the only one thinkig it. Just the same way as with other jewelery? Do you know where the bone comes from exactly? Also something that instantly came into mind was the, i cant think of the word, but how breakable would they be? What age are the bones.. for example, I could not bring myself to wear a childs bones, no specific reason realy, I would just feel a bit strange knowing they belonged to a child. Maybe I havent thought my questions through 100% before asking them, but I'm asking anyway as I'd probably come to the wrong conclusion anyway. I'm excited to see the outcome of this wee venture.

Jimmy BuddhaHey AndiBuck,
No question is ever stupid right? As with ALL "organic" materials it will never be "sterile"...."clean" on the other hand is no problem. I am assuming your concern is with disease that can be passed from human to human. I am not a Doctor but have pierced for 13 years and am fairly familiar with the risks of cross-contamination and how different diseases are spread. There is no risk of contracting anything from this jewelry. I don't want to ruin the surprise....but actual human bone will more than likely not even touch the wearer, the bone will be used in conjunction with other materials. As with all of my jewelry it will be of the highest quality so no worries about being overly fragile. As far as where the material comes from and how old it is? Well we don't want to give up our sources but we don't "harvest" people for their bones and we won't be breaking any laws in the process of doing this.

AndiBuck89alright :) thanks for clearing that up. I'm very excited for this XD

SenjiWearing human remains as jewellery is meaningless if it is just some random bone! What is cool about it? Roll a stick of poo, dry it, oil it and wear it! With that you might be the first one doing it and as long as no other idiot wants to turn his piercings into shitholes you're the only one ;-) Cool?
Don't get me wrong, I like the idea - but some bone from just somebody from god knows where - sold and traded human remains?
No, thanks!

needskin4holesI have a straight razor and a necklace with human bone in them. ....i really would enjoy human bone in my 1/2 inch inner conches!!!!!!!!
November 8, 2010 at 12:47am
needskin4holes Also, anyone worried about cross contamination? ....use your head, no one would sell shit that would hurt you nor would Adam condone it on his site. If you that worried about it give it a Madicide soak for a couple minutes. To wear another person in you is to be a higher less judgmental person yourself.

jimmy buddhaHuman bone "meaningless"? Sure so is everything else then if you look at it like that. Taboo would be a better word. Oh yeah fossilized dino shit is quite chic these days ;)
