AdamThe show theme was that each dancer was an escapee from a mental institution. Arden (the dancer) was supposed to just rip some loose stitches out of herself... She wound up slicing her arm wide open (through the muscle). Tomorrow I'm covering the trip to the ER, and precautionary steps that others can do to avoid accidents like this.

jennI was at this bar the night of the show and I think that the fact that this video was even posted is complete idiocy. IT IS NOT OKAY for performers, of any kind, to bring things on stage that could potentially endanger themselves or their audience!!!!!! Theater 101, no real drinking on stage, knives, swords, guns, bullets, etc. This WAS NOT a body mod event, this was a show and she sliced through her entire forearm by accident! I did not find that performance soooo different or "fucked up" from what I've seen before and I don't think that kind of dangerous behavior should be encouraged or admired.

fragaholicomg she fucked up badly >.<
I almost thought it when i've seen it the first time. holy shit it was MUCH too deep. You could see that she was concerned. but covered it pretty professional.

AdamI agree with you completely. She didn't know any better, and it was an accident. I was called in because her original plan was to have sutures put in and then cut out with a little bit of blood from the holes. Not to slice her arm open and be rushed to the ER.

kcirshe should have put a stop on the blade so that it couldn't bite too deep. wrapping it with tape or similar will keep it from diving too far. the ohfuck moment was pretty obvious. i dig the show though, she pulled it off well.

AdamYeH, I was really impressed how well she took it and that she finished the show without hessitation! I think she's raised the bar on bad ass burlesque performances =)

JClaudeI obviously to no appreciated the the depth and "accident" of the cut, but I am almost hypnotized while watching the whole thing...she is bad ass indeed!!

I think in a way posting this validates the artist, not quite the performance, that though it did not go well, she kept going all the way when the most of us would have broken down like pussies and ran off stage!
Also, you make a grave mistake in confusing "performing art" and "theater", they have little to do with each other except maybe an audience, so time to review your "theater 101" book!
Also, you make another mistake assuming people are encouraging the performance or accident, I think people are encouraging HER, the artist, and that is totally different!
